Rumr ("Rumr", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Rumr chat application.
Rumr is owned and operated by Dominic Yordan and is based in British Columbia, Canada.
1. Overview
Rumr is designed to enable real-time communication without account registration and without message history. We intentionally minimize data collection and retention.
By using Rumr, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information You Provide
When you use Rumr, you may provide:
- A username of your choosing
- A chatroom identifier by creating or joining a room
You are not required to provide your real name, email address, or any other identifying information to use Rumr.
3. Chat Messages
Rumr does not store chat messages as conversation history.
Messages are transmitted in real time for the purpose of delivering communications between users and are not retained by the service once delivery is complete.
Important: Other users may copy, record, or share messages outside of Rumr. Rumr cannot control or prevent this. Use discretion when communicating.
4. Temporary Session Data
To operate the service, Rumr temporarily processes limited session-related information, which may include:
- The chatroom you are connected to
- The username you selected for that room
This information exists only for the duration necessary to support the active session and is not used to identify you personally or build user profiles.
5. Technical and Connection Information
Like most web services, Rumr may process limited technical information necessary to operate and protect the service, such as:
- IP address
- Browser or device information
- Approximate connection timestamps
This information is used for service delivery, reliability, and abuse prevention and is not used for advertising or tracking across services.
6. Cookies
Rumr uses minimal cookies or similar technologies strictly required for basic functionality, such as maintaining an active session.
Rumr does not use:
- Advertising cookies
- Analytics tracking cookies
- Third-party tracking technologies
Disabling cookies may prevent the service from functioning properly.
7. Security
Rumr uses HTTPS encryption to protect data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
While we take reasonable steps to protect data in transit, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. You use Rumr at your own risk.
8. Third-Party Services
Rumr relies on infrastructure and service providers necessary to operate the application. These providers process information only as required to deliver the service and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Rumr does not integrate third-party advertising or analytics platforms.
9. Children's Privacy
Rumr is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used Rumr in violation of this policy, please contact us.
10. Data Retention
Rumr follows a data-minimization approach:
- Chat messages are not retained as history
- Session-related information is temporary
- Any operational data retained for security or reliability purposes is kept only for a limited time
11. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal information.
Because Rumr does not maintain user accounts or persistent personal profiles, most data access, correction, or deletion requests may not apply.
You may stop using the service at any time.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
Continued use of Rumr after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
